EJ’s H.E.A.R.T Inc was founded to honor the legacy of Elijah "EJ" Gillmore who passed away suddenly at the age of 4 in 2016.


As an organization, EJ’s H.E.A.R.T Inc is dedicated to community and scholarship.

To make this goal a reality, fundraising events, like Walk for Elijah, raise money for a scholarship fund that benefits local students.

A few important updates for this year: we will not be holding a live auction. Instead, the evening will focus on a high-energy Paddle Raise followed by a Paddle Drop featuring a special item that ties into our vibrant theme. 

Thank you for your continued partnership, commitment and belief in EJS H.E.A.R.T.! We are truly looking forward to gathering on July 13th and raising the funds that ensure our students continue to soar.

Here’s how you can help:
When you purchase a $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Stop & Shop location at 15 Franklin Street, Seymour, CT, $1 will be donated to support our mission. It’s a simple way to make a difference while helping the environment!

Women in Sports Panel

This event is specially tailored for middle and high school girls, aiming to empower, inspire, and uplift young ladies in sports everywhere. Although hosted in Norwalk, the event is open to students from all of Fairfield County.

October 19th, we hosted our 2nd Annual Reading with H.E.A.R.T, partnership between Norwalk Public Library and Growing Seeds Pre School, LLC . Growing Seeds is the school that our dear Elijah attended for Pre K Learning. This year was special because we choose to read our dear friend and sHERO book, Nia Means Purpose by The Now I Am NIA Foundation, Inc. founder Lavone Roberson. 
She wrote about Nia, a fictional character who helps people learn purpose.

Lavone died in 2022 after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Lavone was first diagnosed with the disease in 2015. The disease returned in 2018.

At the Corner hosted the annual Trunk or Treat Event at the SoNo Collection. Special Thanks for the students in NAOP for packing bags and distributing treats to all the kids of our Norwalk Community!

​Norwalk Night Out is a large block party that takes place right outside of Norwalk Police Headquarters. We bring our community members and local business together in an effort to enhance community safety. Many local businesses participate by bringing items to hand out free (tchotchkes) while promoting their businesses, sharing information, and getting to know their neighbors. Stop by and say hi!

 The Now I Am NIA Foundation, Inc. and Norwalk Library  as we collect donations and school supplies for our community. over 100 backpacks and school supplies were given away.

On May 14th, we hosted a great Stepping Up Sneaker giveaway event at the Carver Center. Where we gave out over 250 pairs of sneakers to families here in Norwalk! These were students who have stepped up lately ! We are talking about good grades/ trophies/ high honors!

​We would like to share with you some good news! Our Co-executive- Tremain Gilmore was crowned ‘Staff Member of the Month’ at Norwalk High School. Below are the beautiful words shared to the staff at the high school.

“We are very excited to introduce Mr. Tremaine(Gil)Gilmore as the Staff Member of the Month for March. Gil is a giant among men and his contributions to NHS and our community cannot be measured. Gil is a wonderful role model and activist whose impact on the lives of young people is truly special: whether mentoring students through his many goodwill initiatives and work such as the Carver Center, fund-raising activities, or his many entrepreneurial endeavors.

As the epitome of a professional, Gil is dignified in his work and generous with his time and support of his colleagues and he is always willing to step in as second in charge in Mr. Lewis’ absence. Gil has the innate ability to bring people together and this has been evident through his work in developing the Elijah Gilmore Scholarship Fund in memory of his son. The scholarship is awarded annually to an NHS senior who plans to attend college and displays compassion and commitment for others while being civic-minded.”
